We also wrapped up the 2025 NZ Chilli Eating Champs at the end of May. This year’s NZ Champion is none other than Jesse Painter, who claimed the title for the fourth time after a grueling three-hour battle, narrowly edging out Shannon Leigh in an epic race for the Oceania Belt.
The belt itself was ultimately claimed (just!) by Australia’s Dominic Clapham, who will now head to Italy in August to compete for the Intercontinental World Belt against some of the top chilli eaters from around the globe.
Huge congratulations to Dom, Jesse, and Shannon on what was arguably the most epic final we’ve ever had! Setting an unofficial world record for the longest chilli eating competition ever held, just surpassing our 2020 final and the very first Oceania Belt match!
In our eyes, all three are absolute CHAMPIONS.
